I used to be a mod for a large and I mean large literary fandom. And nothing got me on the warpath faster than people stealing other people's work. It's ugly, stupid, and unforgivable. Of course, the thieves came up with host of excuses when confronted but let's face it, once your reputation is in the pits, it stays there, especially if you stole something from another person in the same bloody fandom and then reaped the benefits before getting caught.
_sin_attract had been busting her fingers uploading quality videos of SPN cons so others who couldn't attend could enjoy the inevitable hilarity that occurs in these meetings. You'd think that people who watch and link these videos would at least take the few seconds necessary to credit her for her hard work. Obviously, these people would be classified as polite, tactful, and, you know ... wasn't raised by field mice living in a barn.
These people wouldn't be
ckll in
dean_sam. And now
_sin_attract had to disable the embedded codes because her videos were stolen, posted, then credited not to her but to
ckll who thought her disingenuous silence would absolve her from complicit thievery. Wow, is that the wrong way to go. Not to mention a good way to get the comm yanked since it probably violates LJ regs. I know SPN fans have had problems with that particular comm and so have I, but I've kept my peace 'cause hey, different strokes for different folks.
However, that doesn't apply to theft. And I sincerely hope that the comm is yanked in the next 24 hours 'cause that kind of backhanded shenanigans deserve to be bitch-slapped to hell.
I'd apologize for the rant save for the fact that no, people need to see stuff like this and realize that this kind of shit can't be excused. Trollish behavior must be called out as such, otherwise it'll never stop.
