So, about the [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter story...

It was 47k before editing. Now, after few bouts it's ... 52k.

I swear, I thought it was going to have a smaller word count. The good news is that the story is much tighter, and a lot of b.s. had fallen by the wayside.

And yet, it's 52k.

I swear it's magic! *jazz hands*

And my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic? 4k and that's just the medical stuff. *more jazz hands*
So, now that my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_x_mas exchange is done, I have to rev up for [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter which is due January 10th. o_0

I was lucky enough to get Peter Pan so the writing of Neverwood should be a lot easier than Garlic and Butter, which took a boatload of research to hammer out properly. And Neverwood is also outright horror - we're talking more along Straub's Ghost Stories or King's The Shining. And since horror is my specialty, Neverwood will be spectacular that way.

So, how come I derived a horror story out of Peter Pan? Quite simple, actually. I'm writing from the POV of the parents. Even though Barrie's work is lovely, there is much darker flip-side to the whole thing: what about mom and dad who were forced to wait day after day for their missing children to return to the nursery? From that perspective, Peter Pan can easily be translated into horror.

Poor JP. I swear, his character never has it easy in my world...

Ooohhh...

As if I needed even more reasons to write! But, seriously, I had so much fun writing Garlic & Butter for [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter how could I not sign up for the second round? :))

That story is my happy place in so many ways. However, this time I hope to nab Peter Pan b/c it would dovetail nicely with two plot bunnies I've got brewing. First one is an action story and second is a horror, which might work against me, but if Peter Pan is read from the POV of the parents, then yeah, it's a horror story.

Anyway, hope the sign-up is this Sunday so I can revv up in front of my computer and grab Peter Pan!
First off, some unbelievable cuteness by [livejournal.com profile] dun. Seriously, long live the Eye of the Tiger!

Second, I've reached the 7k mark on my [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter and JA and JP finally, finally meet. This was suppose to be a light-hearted romp. Instead, we've got natural disasters on an epic scale and a peek into JP's teenage years, which is all sorts of hilarious and heart-breaking. I've not even reached the restaurant part of this and it's a takeoff of Ratatouille!!

Anyhow, I am seriously considering signing up for BB. But, first, I have to write up to 10k of my everafter story. Only then will I even consider writing for BB. But there's a plot bunny that started up last night (last time I drink coke for dinner), and it's something akin to the first chapter of Hybrid Child manga. I found myself in tears at the end of the first story in that collection. I believe Hybrid Child is officially tagged as Yaoi, but I found it under sci-fi so take your pick. Still, it was beautiful story and I'm considering taking that theme in space. Yes. Space. Seven hundred years into the future. Which means I have to build an entirely new society with new lingo and new ... everything, including social structure. It's a brain-twister but I do love writing about scenarios that are foreign, sometimes even to myself. If you guys could get your hand on Hybrid Child (it can be found in the manga section in Borders), then I suggest you flip through it. It really is an astonishing work - one that transcends the genre it was written for.

*hums Eye of the Tiger*
I've finished outlining my story for [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter. It's gonna be about 20k maybe even 25k. Yes, the best way to get me to cry is to force me to write a drabble. Anyway, everyone's gotta job, including Sterling who's going to be a busboy. :))

Can you imagine Sterling K. Brown as a busboy? I get the giggles just thinking about it 'cause seriously ... and even though Padalecki thinks he's a horrible busboy, he's just too friggin' terrified of the man to fire him, not to mention he doesn't have a clue how the hell the guy got the job in the first place since he didn't hire him. Sterling just shows up for work one day and nobody was willing to stop him and ask how he got the job. Anyway, JP decides he's more than willing to eat up the cost of broken chinaware just so he could avoid talking to the guy. Also, Sterling refuses to wear the uniform and instead wears his own ensemble, which is much more chic than those rented by Mayhem (the restauranteur). It doesn't take long before the entire wait staff ends up wearing ensembles resembling his, and there's a minor revolution in the restaurant b/c of this.

Between him in the back, Chris Kane and Danneel in the front as host and hostess, the restaurant's going to be the bastard love child of the Colonial Marine Brigade from Aliens and Babette's Feast.

The tentative title is going to be: Everything's Better with Garlic and Bacon.

I am going to loooooveeee skewering the Seattle restaurant scene. Not to mention their critics!
Oh, what the hell, I'm gonna try to snag a prompt at [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter. I already had something brewing inside my head and it's almost pretty damn perfect for Ratatouille. Accidentalchef!Jared, organicfarmer!jensen, and Danneel Harris as the world's scariest hostess. With a dash of sandy as pastry chef and Chad as a restauranteur - now that's just the world's most perfect job for Mayhem, I think.
